Drag the Config PPP control panel and PPP extension to your closed System folder.

Open the Config PPP control panel. Click on the New… button. Type Novia into the PPP Server Name: field. Configure the resulting dialog box as follows.

(If you do not have call waiting, you should leave out *70, from the Phone num field. The Modem Init field should contain the appropriate modem initialization string for your modem. You may also leave the Modem Init field blank if you desire).

Now click the Authentication button:

Enter the username and password of your Novia account. Be sure to enter the username in all lowercase letters. At this point you can click OK, followed by Done to conclude the configuration process. You may now close the Config PPP control panel.

If you have a MacTCP control panel …

If you have an icon entitled MacTCP in your control panels folder, read the following section. If you have an icon entitled TCP/IP in your control panels folder, instead, skip to the next step.

Open MacTCP and click on the More… button. Configure the resulting dialog as follows:

Click OK and close the MacTCP control panel.

You are now ready to access the Internet with your Macintosh. Whenever you launch an Internet application, such as a web browser like Netscape Navigator, FreePPP will intervene and connect to Novia to establish your connection.

If you have a TCP/IP control panel …

Open the TCP/IP control panel. Configure as follows:

Close the TCP/IP control panel and click the Save button.

You are now ready to access the Internet with your Macintosh. Whenever you launch an Internet application, such as a web browser like Netscape Navigator, FreePPP will intervene and connect to Novia to establish your connection.
