configuring your access

package to work with novia

Introduction

If you have purchased a third-party Internet access package such as Spry's Internet in a Box or Trumpet Winsock, here is some of the information you will need to configure such a package to connect to Novia.
For this setting
Use
login:Use the login name, sometimes known as the account name, that you requested upon establishing an account with Novia, typically the first letter of your first name followed by your last name (example: gsmith for "Gary Smith"). Be sure to enter the login name in lower-case letters.
password: Use the password you selected upon establishing an account with Novia.
access telephone number:
390-2638.

If you have call waiting, you will probably want to prefix the access telephone number with *70, which will instruct your modem to disable call-waiting and wait one second for a fresh dialtone before completing the call.

Name of Internet Service Provider:
Novia Internetworking
domain name: If your software asks for your Internet service provider's domain name, key in the following:

novia.net
DNS server: Sometimes known as the primary DNS server:

204.248.24.2

Secondary DNS server:
204.248.24.1
Connection method: Use PPP (an acronym for Point to Point Protocol). If you would like to connect to Novia via SLIP, please call our office for additional instructions.
Authentication method: Your software will likely ask whether your Internet service provider uses PAP or CHAP to authenticate users desiring to establish a PPP connection. Select PAP (an acronym for PPP Authentication Protocol).
IP Address: If your software has a setting to the effect of, "Allow the PPP server to assign my IP address," select that option. If not, use 0.0.0.0.
POP Mail Server: pop.novia.net
SMTP Mail Server: smtp.novia.net
News or NNTP Server: news.novia.net
Gateway Address: If your software has a setting to the effect of, "Allow the PPP server to assign my gateway address," select that option. If not, use 204.248.24.254
Subnet Mask: If your software has a setting to the effect of, "Allow the PPP server to assign my subnet mask," select that option. If not, use 255.255.255.0
Class:If your software asks for your IP address classification, select Class C.
